Ancestry Library is a genealogy database with research tools that consist of data from census, military records, court, land, probate, vital and church records as well as passenger lists etc. It covers Canada, the US, UK and some European countries. This is available for use in the library only.
We are pleased to announce that we have have partnered with CELA the Centre for Equitable Library Access and now we can offer patrons who need this service. The CELA Program provides local library access to Canada’s largest collection of alternative format books and online resources for people who have difficulty reading print due to a visual, physical or learning disability. We have magazines and are able to do interlibrary loans. For more information and to be included in this service please contact either the Havelock or Cordova Libraries.
EyeDiscover is a online resource that has 170 titles to choose from, that young and struggling readers can use the optic readalong titles to increase comprehension and ability. Readers can listen at their own pace while they read and view video content to support their learning.

The Just for Kids Streaming collection gives kids and their parent a thoroughly kid-safe, advertisement-free media platform they can freely explore and enjoy. Just for Kids has the educational videos children want to watch for example Sesame Street, The Berenstain Bears, Franklin, and thousands more—plus songs, games, and other interactives that are sure to entertain, educate, and inspire young kids. There are different categories such as science, math, world languages (including sign language), reading & writing, arts & music, plus so much more. LingoLITE is an image- and video-based foreign language learning tool for 260 of the most basic words and terms in 30 languages. LingoLITE uses Associative Multimedia Learning, to help the user associate an image with the correct foreign word without first translating it into their native language.
Overdrive is a database that will let you download audio books, ebooks and magazines free of charge to your portable device. You can chose from approximately 3000 audio books and 1400 ebook titles and you can either download from the library or from you own home. Just be careful and check to see if your device will be compatible. PLEASE REMEMBER ON THE SIGN IN SCREEN YOU ONLY NEED TO USE THE LAST 5 DIGITS OF YOUR LIBRARY CARD. Ebook Kindles are not compatible.

If you go the Reference Centre they have computer & web tutorial, life skills, government resources plus a wealth of other interesting facts and articles. This database can be used from home.
