We are pleased to announce that we have have partnered with CELA the Centre for Equitable Library Access and now we can offer patrons who need this service. The CELA Program provides local library access to Canada’s largest collection of alternative format books and online resources for people who have difficulty reading print due to a visual, physical or learning disability. We have magazines and are able to do interlibrary loans. For more information and to be included in this service please contact either the Havelock or Cordova Libraries.

Geocaching is the global adventure that combines the outdoors, technology and digital media. It is the real-world treasure hunt that’s happening right now, all around you. There are 2,644,547 active geocaches and over 6 million geocachers worldwide. All you need to do is sign up. There are a lot of geocaches in our region.

LingoLITE is an image- and video-based foreign language learning tool for 260 of the most basic words and terms in 30 languages. LingoLITE uses Associative Multimedia Learning, to help the user associate an image with the correct foreign word without first translating it into their native language.

Overdrive is a  database that will let you download audio books,  ebooks and magazines free of charge to your portable device. You can chose from approximately 3000 audio books and 1400 ebook titles and you can either download from the library or from you own home. Just be careful and check to see if your device will be compatible. PLEASE REMEMBER ON THE SIGN IN SCREEN YOU ONLY NEED TO USE THE LAST 5 DIGITS OF YOUR LIBRARY CARD. Ebook Kindles are not compatible.

The World Book database includes Early World of Learning, Kids, Student, Advanced, Timelines, Activity Corner, Discover, Early People, Inventions and Discoveries, Living Green, Science Power, Social Studies Power, Encidopedia Estuiantil Hallazgos, and L’Encyclopedia Decouverte. If you go the Reference Centre they have computer & web tutorial, life skills, government resources plus a wealth of other interesting facts and articles. This database can be used from home. Please contact either library for the username and password.
